Q:Will this thermometer work for making candy?
It can be used to make candy, you need to set the custom temperature that you wanted.
When you see the CUSTOM display on the screen, it means that you can set the custom temperature (Don't choose any meat from 8 different set meat selection).
And then changing the temperature alert, press and hold the S/S button for a few seconds, the ALERT TEMP will blink on the left of screen. (Please pay attention to the manual)
The alarm will beep and the screen will flash when the candy reach the targeted temperature.

Q:Can you adjust the volume of the alarm?

Yes, you can. There are 15 different volume levels. You can choose from them.

Q:Does the food thermometer really have a 2 seconds response? Is the default setting Fahrenheit?

The digital meat thermometer responses in 2-3 seconds and gives a accurate temperature within 4-7 seconds. The default setting of this thermometer is Fahrenheit, it can be changed to Celsius by pressing the button on the back.

Q: Does the thermometer turn off automatically?
Yes, this thermometer screen will automatically dim within 15 seconds of no-operation. It will shut off within 12-15 minutes of no-operation.

Q: I have noticed that that display/projection will shut off at night. Does anyone know how to stop this?
It's the clock carrying out the synchronization procedure with the WWVB signal, to correct any deviations to the exact time. At 1:00 /2:00 / 3:00 am or every time you restart the clock, the clock will automatically carries out the synchronization procedure with the WWVB signal. During the RC signal reception time the backlit display and the projector light will turn off.
This procedure will last for 7 minutes maximum.
If you don't like the backlit display and the projection turn off at night , you can manually turn off the auto WWVB signal reception.
